A Scout is: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. The good ol’ Boy Scout law. Had to memorize it, and was having problems until one of my Scoutmasters suggested memorizing one half at a time. And damned if that didn’t work like gangbusters. I have large bits of “The Walrus and the Carpenter” memorized, but I still don’t really know a few scattered stanzas, unfortunately. ---

Somebody took Jabberwocky already. Darn. My mother’s siblings: JoanDorothyJosephHenryAnneJoelAviChatzFeivyJoshJoyceMomJay (which, for maximum impressiveness, must be said at top speed in one breath). I can do all 71 of their children also (although slower), in age order by family, but I’m not willing to type it. I used to be able to do fairly impressive chunks of Biblical stuff (in Hebrew), but it’s been several years since I had to memorize them and they’re fading. Plus transliterating it all would get annoying, although memorizing Ha’Azinu (Deuteronomy 32) is definitely the toughest memorization that I’ve ever done. One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. This one has a little star. This one has a little car. See how many, many fish there are! ---

I consulted the book and found that I got a few lines wrong. It’s been quite a while since I last recited this. The other night, from cares exempt I slept, and what d’you think I dreamt. In the not too distant future, Next Sunday A.D. There was a guy named Joel, not too different from you or me. He worked at Gizmonic Institute, just another face in a red jumpsuit. He did a good job cleaning up the place, but his bosses didn’t like him so they shot him into space. We’ll send him cheesy movies, the worst we can find. (La La La) He’ll have to sit and watch them all, and we’ll monitor his mind. Now keep in mind Joel can’t control where the movies begin or end.
