My hair’s shaggier than it’s ever been, but I still like the way it looks when I leave the house. The problem, of course, is that as soon as the slightest breeze kicks up, my hair is all over the place. I have plenty of hair, but it has no weight, if that makes any sense. So, I went to the drugstore and picked up a bottle of gender-neutral looking hairspray, but trying it out just now, I noticed an intense fake-watermelon smell. Definitely not for me. So, any specific recommendations for a hair product that will keep my hair in place, keep it looking natural, and not make me smell like a chick? ---

I like the Pantene Anti-Frizz Anti-Humidity hairspray. I’ve never noticed a scent to it. ---

Axle grease. Just reach under the car and find a hunk of it. 😛 On a helpful note, I use L’Oreal Studio Line Light Headed Non-Hardening Gel, which is clear and almost odor-less, and doesn’t turn your head into some sort of hair sculpture. ---

I use the tub of cheap stuff. Can’t think of the name, but it’s blue and has no real smell. It’s like 4 bucks and lasts me for months. If you want to spend a little more, American Crew has a great line of products. ---

Avoid hairspray or gel. What you want is some sort of finishing cream or basic light pomade. I had this exact problem recently and I’ve found American Crew [Fiber](http://www.groominglounge.com/amcrfi.html) to be perfect. I got it at Target and only use a tiny bit per day. It takes my hair from lifeless to pretty nice. ---

I use Garnier Fructis “Surf Hair” pomade/paste to keep my mop ever so slightly messy. It dries kinda stiff at first, but it breaks down fairly quickly. ---

Murray’s Hair Pomade. Comes in an orange can, possibly in the ethnic-hair section, but it works on hair of all origins. Just use a DAB, not a big scoop. Maybe like a half-dime-sized blob. Rub it all over your palms and then mush through your hair. You kind of mush it and plump it in there. It doesn’t “spread” on like a viscous gel or anything like that. And do not just take a hunk of it and slap it on your hair. Kiehl’s makes some men-specific hair products too. ---

I don’t use anything now but that would be my pick if I had to go back to special products. They sell it at salons and even cheap ones like SuperCuts and probably at some drug stores. It isn’t super cheap but even product I tried lasted a very long time. ---

Thanks for the tips. I think I might try Fiber; I used to use American Crew when I had short, spikey hair, and was very happy with it. ---

Vitalis. Back when the hair was a bit shorter I used it to complete my Mr. Wrong Halloween costume. I realized there was nothing righter than wrong and kept using it.
