Is Shadowrun Returns a good candidate for this kind of game? I haven’t played an older-style isometric game in a long time. My computer is from 2012 and I have played newer games like Fallout 3(ten years old!), Skyrim, all the Elder Scrolls. I thought it might be fun to go back to an older style game, though. Anyone want to recommend one for me? ---

Pillars of Eternity, though IMHO your party members don’t have the same level of individual personality I found in Baldur’s Gate. They should have just ported Minsc over. Shadowrun Returns and the others are fun and play similarly, but they are light on the role-playing options. ---

Pillars of Eternity and it’s improved sequel Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire are spiritual successors to the Baldur’s Gate style of games (to the point of using “you must gather your party before venturing forth” soundbite). ---

Shadowrun Returns, the first game with no subtitle (though the campaign is called Dead Man’s Switch) is kind of like Fallout 1. I’m glad I played it, but no real desire to try again. The second game, Dragonfall, greatly improved on the gameplay as well as the plot and characterization. The third, Hong Kong, is a more incremental upgrade over DF. Gameplay is similar in all 3, just 2/3 have included skills etc. besides shooting. ---

I see that the common thread in OP’s examples is that you must gather your party before venturing forth. 🙂
