Having just seen The Aviator I want to know more. So what’s a good book on the bloke? I really want to know about his nutter period in later life, more than the period covered in the film.

Any suggestions?

[Citizen Hughes](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0767919343/002-3172715-0901661) by Michael Drosnin. Picks up about ten years after the end of the film.

_Howard Hughes and his Flying Boat_ by Charles Barton covers about the same period as the movie, and is highly readable. Suit yourself, but I’d rather not dwell on Hughes’ mental decline later on.
