Our old pressed-metal base is on its last legs. Can you recommend a good Christmas tree stand or base? I see there are some new designs out there, including a small, sphere-like thing on which you hit a button to hold the tree just so. Thanks. ---

We always favored the more generously-proportioned trees, and those bitty little metal saucepans with legs were no match. We tended to end up with the [big, green plastic ones](http://www.lowes.com/pd_90576-62860-103-12_4294701428__?productId=3830579&Ns=p_product_avg_rating%7C1&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_avg_rating%7C1&facetInfo=) that are about 2’ across and have two pairs of four bolts that screw into the tree. and… you may have missed Christmas. Sorry to have to be the one to break the news…
