I’m looking for a chess game for the PC. Ideally the game would have an excellent training mode to help me work on my game.

I don’t have any need for basic tutorials. I know how to play as well as some basic and introductory strategy. What I want is a game that will help me work on my game.

I don’t like playing online, at least on the sites I’ve tried (MSN, Yahoo). Too hard to get an honest opponent, too easy to cheat. (Cheating is easy - you load up a good Chess AI, set it to hard, play your opponents move then play online how the AI reacts.)

I see about 2 million versions of ChessMaster for PC. Are these good? If so, which version would be best? Is there a better alternative?

Any advice welcome.
