Ever since the capability was added to iTunes, I’m addicted to podcasting. I listen to them so often that when I’m in the car listening to Air America on the way home, I’m flummoxed by the fact I can’t pause the show when I need to. I love them so much.

So, what are some of the best? Hit me with any genre, and I’ll check 'em out. What I’d really like to find is a right-wing radio show that’s both a) reasonable and b) funny on purpose. I know it’s out there, but I haven’t found it yet.

Anyway here are a couple of my favorites:

**Stephanie Miller** - **PinkMarabou** tuned me in to her last week and I’m hooked! It’s a liberal news/comedy show that’s very fast moving and funny. They spend a lot of time listening to what the right wing personalities are saying and having a good laugh, arguing with people that hate them, and doing various little comedy sketches. Their voice guy Jim’s G.W. impression is priceless (_I like toast_). Clips and podcasts are available in iTuens and on her site [here](http://www.stephaniemiller.com).

**Morning Sedition** - More liberal chit chat. Also done from a comedy angle, so it’s usually pretty good stuff. Podcasts available in iTunes and [here](http://www.airamericaplace.com).

**Al Franken** - Detecting a theme yet? More liberal fun. Oddly, not as funny as the above, but still good. If you heard his smackdown of Bernie Goldberg last week you know he’s worth listening to if you’re a lefty. 😉 Podcasts available [here](http://www.airamericaplace.com). He’s in iTunes too, but I don’t think they have the entire shows there. Air America Place (linked) does though.

**NPR’s On The Media** - A very professionally done examination of what’s going on in the media that week. Seems remarkable well balanced to me, but I’m a liberal, so take that for what it’s worth. Podcasts in iTunes and [here](http://www.onthemedia.org/)

So what else is out there?

I’ll bump this for you, because I’m interested in recommendations, too. 🙂 I updgraded to the podcast-able iTunes a few weeks ago, but haven’t yet tried any. I’ll check out some of your recommendations, and hope that some more will be offered!

(It might be dumb to bump this at almost exactly the same time of day the OP was posted, but what the heck. :D)

Let’s try a daytime bump, shall we? 😃

I’ve listened to a few tech podcasts lately, and they’re just not doing it for me. They were:

**This Week in Tech** - Not terrible, but not terribly interesting either. Available in iTunes and [here](http://thisweekintech.com/).

**Engadget** - Great website, not terribly interesting podcast. iTunes and [url=http://www.engadget.com

They’re not near as funny or informative as the few I mentioned in the OP, and usually not the same quality either. So the search continues.

If you’re a This American Life fanatic, try:

[Little Grey Book Lectures](http://www.littlegraybooks.com/): Strongly recommended. I hurt myself stifling laughter on the bus while listening to these—and then, despite my efforts, a really funny line sneaks up on me and I snort in a most undignified manner. The only problem is there aren’t enough of them. Well, that and the opening chatter, despite brief flashes of brilliance, gets kind of tedious . . . Some LGBL material has appared on TAL in modified form.

[Public Radio Exchange](http://www.prx.org/home.do) and [Transom](http://www.transom.org): Both are a real mixed bag with a wide variety of subjects, but kind of spotty in quality. Mostly very short pieces, though, so if it’s dull, it’s not much of a loss. They feature Scott Carrier and other TAL notables, plus lots of more newsy-factsy pieces.

Astronomy (and general science) geeks, try:

[Are We Alone?](http://www.seti.org/site/pp.asp?c=ktJ2J9MMIsE&b=178892): The weekly SETI podcast. The sound quality is often poor, and there are way WAY _WAY_ too many commercials. But you can fast-forward through the commercials, and the subject matter can’t be beat: astronomy, space exploration, technology, biology, evolution, artificial intelligence, etc. Anything even tangentially related to SETI. They also have a monthly epsiode focusing exclusively on skeptical issues. Lots of fascinating interview guests, including The Bad Astronomer.

[Slacker Astronomy](http://www.slackerastronomy.org/): A shorter program that features something from astronomy current events each week. These guys just charm the socks off me, even though the production values are pretty primitive. I think they give good explanations of difficult concepts, and there’s lots of geek humor. They’ve had BA on, too.

[Science Friday](http://www.sciencefriday.com/): From NPR’s Talk of the Nation. I especially like how they split the episodes up into separate files for each segment. Makes it a bit easier to manage the files when you aren’t listening to solid 1-hour blocks.

And I’ll throw in another vote for **On the Media.**

[Paul Harris](http://www.harrisonline.com/): talk radio for people who never thought they’d listen to talk radio.

A mild resurrection, but I have gotten on board with this whole podcasting thing as well.

Now, Meet The Press can be heard in its entirety via podcasting.

ABC News also has some nice segments available from This Week and Nightline.

What I am waiting for is:

The Daily Show
Leno, Letterman, and Conan’s monologues
ESPN Radio
