My neighbor bought a Toro corded electric “snow shovel”. I was surprised at how well it cleaned snow and of course it got into areas where a snow blower couldn’t reach (porch, etc). I could certainly see using it as an emergency backup should the snow blower break down.
One of my neighbors got one of those aftermarket popemobile head domes that attaches to the handles while snow blowing. I can’t decide if he looks like a jackass or a genius, but looks to be having more fun that most.
keep in mind, the ergonomics of the unit makes a big difference. if you have heart issues a large blower has to be muscled around turns. they’re great on the straightaway or graceful curves but you still have to turn them 180 degrees to go back.
Here’s a video of the Toro Snowmaster. it’s designed to shut the engine down if you hit something instead of using a shear pin. That may be a standard item now. Don’t know. But it’s something to research. it’s also variable speed with having to change gears. Definitely a much more ergonomic handle than most.
