Watching YouTube on my tablet is perfect - the video stays at the top while I read downloader’s notes, comments and scroll related videos.

But how do you do that on Chrome for Windows?

I’ve searched and haven’t found anything… thought I would ask the Doper community.

If I open YouTube in the Chrome browser in Windows, there is a button for “[theater mode](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6052392?hl=en)” which seems to do what you want without needing any sort of extension.

Download **Floater for Youtube**. It makes an always-on-top screen that you can watch while doing anything else in the computer.

Dewey - strange, in my YouTube, in the lower right of the viewer, there is an icon for “Cinema mode” which doesn’t change any of the scrolling characteristics. Can’t find “Theater mode”.

From what I’m seeing, cinema mode and theater mode are the same thing. Try this. Open Chrome in incognito mode and try again. Does it work now? If so the problem may be an incompatible extension. (Normally incognito mode does not launch extensions, but if the extension is still running there, this won’t help.)

Other pages suggest clearing the cache.

No luck. Tried it on my work computer as well - same result.
