In honor of this thread, does anybody know any good Arthurian Zombie movies?
Agreed. I didn’t like that movie because of the way they warped history. In fact, I bitched a lot about it when watching the movie to the point that my ex bitced a lot about me shutting up. She won. A sad day indeed.
Persia Wolley’s Guinevere trilogy is a good read, and was the basis for 1990’s TV-Movie “Guinevere” with Noah Wyle as Lancelot. Don’t judge the books by the movie, I beg you.
They’re Gwen at each stage in her life - childhood and life as Arthur’s new bride (Child of the Northern Spring), coming into her own as High Queen (Queen of the Summer Stars), and everything falling apart (Legend in Autumn), all told from Gwen’s POV.
I’m amazed that I caught flack from multiple people for reccomending Thomas Covenant (Chronicles of the Unbeliever) for an ‘extremely sharp’ 12 year old (which I interpret to be intellectual equivalent of at least a 14 year old), because it contains a single paragraph, non-graphic scene in which the protaganist ‘ravishes’ a girl. Out of a six book series.
But most people here are OK with a random 15 year old watching Excalibur with it’s graphic and visual rape, incest and gore…
(Don’t get me wrong, I think both are fine at the parents’ discretion…I’m just shaking my head)
You should avoid Boogie Knights, which I understand to be a Disco version of the Arthurian legends, with Burt Reynolds as Arthur, Mark Wahlberg as Lancelot, John C. Reilly as Galahad and Julianne Moore as Guineviere. Philip Seymour Hoffman makes a good Merlin, though.
OK, so I looked on IMDB and Wikipedia, and didn’t find any sign of this.
I so wanted it to be true.
