Check out the “game” threads in MPSIMS for various ideas. Most of them are pretty harmless and don’t require giving up much deeply personal information. Song title games, word morphing games, lots of games to get people to laugh together without working too hard on it.

Enjoy,
Steven

Spin the Bottle?

Quarters?

😃

Maybe you should specify what kind of bonding you’re hoping for.

…in which the player _du jour_ has to walk 25/50 feet whilst clenching a quarter between their butt cheeks. At the end of the walk, they have to make the quarter land in an empty cup on the floor.

(Not to be played naked… gross…)

I don’t know about “bonding” per se, but afterward we were united in having no respect for either ourselves or each other 😃

(It wasn’t an office game - we played it at a party at our VP’s house… she never hosted another one after that.)

Best team building exercise I was ever went on was when they took us out and we played paint ball for an afternoon.
Did I mention I work with a bunch of VERY competive people?
If you can get the boss to play even better 😃 😃

> Guess what- people _hate_ shit like this! That’s why movies like _Office Space_ and the series _The Office_ mercilessly lampoon these sick facets of corporate culture. You want your employees to bond, drop this sort of retardation.

I second this; they might appreciate something like an evening of bowling, or karting (or pizza, movies, etc), but anything that is conspicuously ‘team building’ is a pain in the ass. And especially avoid those pointless “The object of this exercise is to build trust…” sort of games, where one person has to fall back and be caught by another person (who takes the opportunity to fondle their breasts), or anything cheesy and managerial like that.

I have GOT to get a goodsized group together and play that. It sounds llike a blast!

**Balloon Voodoo Dolls**

Everyone gets 6 or 7 round and long balloons to blow up and assemble into the approximate form of a person. Team A decorates theirs with red marking pens and Team B with black. Stick the voodoo dolls on a wall so that red and blue are mixed together. Blindfold a member from Team B and give him/her a hatpin (or a regular pin). Another Team B member tries to verbally guide the blindfolded person to a balloon within ten seconds. If that person pops a balloon of Team A, Team B gets a point. If they pop one of their own or touch the wall without popping one, the team gets no points. A member from Team A then leads the person somewhere within 15 feet of the balloons and gives him/her a good spin. Then he/she tries to pop another balloon. Each teammate gets three tries. Then select a person from Team A to be blindfolded and go again. The more balloons that are popped, the harder the game will get. The first team to get 20 points (or whatever pointage you agree on) wins. Heckling or encouraging the blindfolded person as they are being guided is recommended.

Encouraging mustn’t contain specific instructions. That’s the guide’s job.

I don’t know what game you should play. But I sure know what game you SHOULDN’T play: Risk. If you want to create lifelong grudges, scores to be settled, and outright hatred, play a few games of Risk. Any good Risk match includes at least two betrayals, one outright backstab, lots of treachery and mendacity, and people shrieking insults and threats at close friends and relatives. It’s great.

I agree that just getting people out to play a casual sport is probably the most fun. If you have enough people in the office start a small slo-pitch league.

I have another idea for an office game but the first rule is that I can’t talk about it.

The second rule is also I can’t talk about it…
