Mine is a Porter-Cable 120v, sorta like this one. Hefty and tough. Good masonry bits help.
If they can drill tile, they can drill block/concrete. Ryobi bits are just fine. Just back out now and then instead of leaning on them like you’re drilling wood, and they’ll last as long as you need.
Unless you’re drilling 1/2" or larger holes, cordless is just fine. For that matter, they’d probably handle 1/2" fine if they weren’t doing it all day long.
Modern cordless tools are amazing.
I’ve used a 1/2 inch cordless Makita to drill a 3" hole using a hole saw. No problem. Wished I had the side handle though.
Three holes drilled in 5 minutes, and ski rack mounted on the wall. The Ryobi cordless made short work of the project.
