> The Wizard of Oz doesn’t have a plot twist that I can think of near the end. Some nice little twists in the first half. Also waaay too many drug references for a “kids movie.” (And if you think I’m going to do a spoiler box for WoOz…) She gets knocked out. When she “wakens” everything is different, weird stuff, color, etc. It’s clearly a hallucination. Since the witch (and much later the wizard) are clearly characters from her “real life”, that also clues you in.

Way too many drug references? I couldn’t one for certain and another maybe. Exactly what do you mean?

And I don’t agree it’s clearly a hallucination, since it’s in essence a fantasy and in fantasy, those kind of things are par for the course. I was also under the impression that the bright colors as opposed to the black and white(among other reasons) were included to provide a nice contrast to the dullness of the great plains and dorthey’s life beforehand.

And there’s also the fact that in Baum’s book, the whole thing ISN’T a dream or hallucination.

I can’t think of any big plot twists in there. Unexpected occuraces and unconventional choronlogy, sure, but I’m having a hard time thinking of anything that throws the rest of the movie into a new perspective.

What was the twist in “House of Sand and Fog”? I saw it a couple weeks back and nothing sticks out.

**The Pledge** , starring Jack Nicholson and directed by Sean Penn.

Until the “twist” happens, I absolutely HATED this movie. It was nearly two hours of cop-movie-cliche-saturated torture. However, the way it ended made the whole ordeal worthwhile.

Oh dear. So many posts, and I don’t think ‘Witness For The Prosecution’ has been mentioned.

And I have to have a wry smile when people talk of ‘old’ movies that are 30 years old. There is an ending in ‘The Big Parade’ which could be said to be surprising. But it is a silent movie. It is rather old.
