All that are recommended are good starter points.
If you like Regency ( Pride and prejudice time period. With manners and sensibility and filthy rich men wooing fiesty young misses)
Barbara Metzger is a fine writer. I’ve read nearly all her books except the recent releases in the last year.
If you like a fantasy/sci fi book that is well written: Dara Joy Knight of a Trillion Stars; Rejar ; Something else that I can’t remember are excellent.
If you like a paranormal/time travel/ghosties: **Lynn Kurland **is very good. ( Her first bunch of books are really good. I faded out towards the last of them for no fault of hers.)
If you want a well written, poolside read: Amanda Quick does regencies like no other and her other genres are not so bad themselves.
If you want chick lit, light romance, heavy on the laughs:Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum Series are addictive, fun and quick reads. Start with One.
Fantasy/paranormal (which is soemthng I am into right now…blaaaaaah!) try for Marjorie Liu who is excellent, IMHO.
Time Travel: Jude Deveraux’s A Knight in shining armor is a must read.
Mary Jo Putney has several series that are like a well woven tapestry ( I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the regency time period ones.) They are not quick reads, IMHO. The Rake is one of her finest and one of the Genre’s finest and one of my favorites.
If you like something that is a little darker than usual, but still Regencyish: Laura Kinsale is very good.
Top Romance books list. A starting point.
