Recommend me decent, AFFORDABLE pots and pans!

I’ve always been a big fan of Revereware. In fact, my parents gave me a small pot (4 qt, I think), when I moved out. They bought it when they got married in 1950, and it’s still perfect, except the Bakelite handle is gone. The metal core handle is still there, so I occasionally have to use a potholder to pick it up. But I use it all the time.

I also have a 12" Revereware copper bottom skillet I still use after 20 years. My non-stick Revereware skillet was tossed out after a few years though.

I’ll place another vote for Revereware. My mom got a set (the stainless with the copper bottom) when she got married over 50 years ago and she has used them ever since. I’ve had mine for about 10 years and they still look as good as new.

I’m not a fan of cast iron either. If it can’t be dumped into the dishwasher, it’s outta here.

My parents have used Farberware for decades and like it.

Thanks for all the information, folks. I finally ended up outfitting my kitchen on Saturday!

My mom regifted me a $20 Macy’s gift card that someone gave her, since she always loses gift cards or forgets about them. I went there one day last week and looked around their kitchen section, but everything was ridiculously expensive, the saleswoman was pushy and patronizing, and I left empty-handed and grumpy.

However, they had a one-day sale on Saturday, so I went back and got a nice stainless steel Cuisinart 5.5-quart pot with a glass lid, clearanced for $18, and a 12" Tools of the Trade nonstick frying pan, marked down from $30 to $11. It came out super-cheap with the gift card, and I’ve already used both and they work really well. I already had a great 14" grill pan with circular rings, so I’m starting to put a good cooking setup together.
