Recommend me energetic Broadway musicals (or other vocals)

If you are listening to a lot of musicals you might really appreciate what is going on in Urinetown. I don’t know if you can follow the story without knowing the show, but it’s vaguely parody. Start off with Run Freedom Run, it’s a fairly straightforward song and nice and upbeat. But the gold  is in stuff like Too much Exposition or *Urinetown *or Don’t Be the Bunny.

It isn’t super upbeat, but The Last Five Years is another musical worth listening to. It’s beautiful crazy beautiful. Jason Robert Brown needs to be more well known.

Preach it. And “Moving Too Fast” fits the OP’s criteria perfectly.

Oh my gosh, what great suggestions!

Going to check many of them out – stay tuned. IN the meantime, a couple of thoughts:

Hairspray, yes! I forgot to mention that one as one of the energetic ones I really like. Pippin I bounced hard off the two songs I know from it, but I’ll have to look into the others.

I love Chorus Line and Annie, and will have to add those to my listening list.

I had no idea the Ragtime guys had done more musicals! Yay!

This week’s “It’s not unusual” cover Glee download has had me bopping for days. Actually, some of the other songs this week were pretty energetic come to think of it, and a few were showtune covers.

Also, the Indigo Girls / Big Fish Ensemble version of Jesus Christ Superstar is a good mix of energy either musical or emotional.

Off topic, but if you’re a certain age, one of the Ragtime people also taught you the preamble to the Constitution.

And the order of the planets!

Hey, so what did you think?

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
