I currently shave with either a Mach3 or a Sensor Excel depending on morning whimsy, but these suckers are damned expensive. I prefer the Mach because it’s more comfortable and I cut myself less, but the whole three blades seems like a waste. What cheap (~$0.90 / cartridge in bulk or less) razor gives you a quality shave?

Depends what you want - ease of use, or quality of shave? If you’re prepared to take twice as long and really concentrate, then a classic style razor, where the replacement blades really are actual blades, gives a wonderful smooth even cut. But if you’re prone to rushing things, don’t go near it!
