Andrew Vachss - Shella
Very unlike the rest of his work. This one is pretty solid literature.

Oslo, a second on Tuchman. And Darryl Lict, how dare you beat me to Carson McCullers!
There’s a genre that gets neglected: kids’ books. Not just Lewis Carrol, but The Phantom Tollbooth and The Frightened Forest.
If you insist on being a grownup, The Mansion by Faulkner kicks boody.
I adore Vonnegut, but I don’t think Slaughterhouse Five is his best work. Not even in the top 10, in my opinion. The Sirens of Titan is a beautiful piece of work, and I’m very fond of Jailbird.
Some books that are favourites of mine, for one reason or another, in no particular order:
Replay by Ken Grimwood
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
Watership Down by Richard Adams
Heinlein’s The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress.
A Night In The Lonesome October by Zelazny
Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas by Dr Hunter S. Thompson
The Ancient Engineers by De Camp (non-fiction, but very well written).
