I liked Slipstream( 1989), its not as bad as it is made out to be. And it was filmed on location in Turkey? I think and the scenery is gorgeous, really unique looking ancient structures and stuff.
It is a post apoc movie where a pilot has to help a escaped human looking android get somewhere, he flies a plane.

I read an account once of a supposed UFO sighting by a Japanese commercial airline pilot. What he described sounded exactly like Gamera, which made me suspect a whoosh.
