If you’re thinking of something very classy, very masculine to be saved for special occasions, may I suggest **Cuiron** by Helmut Lang
[http://www.midtownperfume.com/mp/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=0&idproduct=6490](http://www.midtownperfume.com/mp/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=0&idproduct=6490)
It is incredibly sexy, very grown up and is good if he prefers leathery, tobaccoy, woody scents.

My dad uses **Eau Sauvage** -so I can’t find it sexy, although it is a nice fresh scent.

The other contender is **L’Eau D’Issey Pour Homme** by Issey Miyake, which is a more citrusy, fresher smell, but again very sexy. It can take a while to settle on some people, so don’t dismiss it until he’s had it on for an hour or two.

It smells like money that’s been rolled around in sex while Barry White tunes played in the background. Chicks dig it.

> If your husband is anti-cologne, shop around sometime for high-end shaving gels or creams. You might find one that has a smell that drives you nuts.

He’s not really anti-cologne, but his sense of smell isn’t good, so he doesn’t really have a deep appreciation for when people smell good and when they don’t.

That’s a great comparison. Heh.

I like Eternity and there’s another one that I know when I smell it, but can never remember the name of.

_Paco Rabanne_ cologne is very nice, but for my personal taste, I like _Pierre Cardin_, again, either the cologne or the a/shave.

Just a mere whiff of that, and I go all weak and gooey at the knees. 😃

My colognes:

[Versace Metal Jeans](http://www.perfumania.com/Products.aspx?Cat1Id=999855&CatId=648) - Fragrance Notes - Tangerine, Grapefruit, Green Leaves, Watermelon, Jasmine, Water Flowers, Amber, Musk, Oak Moss and Guaiac Wood.

[Jean Paul Gaultier - Le Male](http://www.fragrancenet.com/f/net/mf_items.html?cat=01302&cur_letter=J&gs_gen=M) - Fragrance Notes - warm fresh mint, lavender, orange blossom and woods, manly and warm

I like them both very much, but prefer the Gaultier. My favorite cologne of all I’ve smelled.

My old favourite will always, always be Eternity. I don’t care much for the women’s version, but the men’s version makes me go all ga-ga, weak in the knees, tongue lolling, drool-happy, take-me-I’m-yours on a man. I’ve smelled it on the ugliest man and followed him through the old factory. Didn’t want anything from him, just his smell. He could have blindfolded me and led me around on a leash.

My husband wears Crave by Calvin Klein. It’s my second favourite. He wears very little scent, and his brother got Crave for him two years ago, and he still has plenty of it. I’m impatiently awaiting the end of the bottle so I can go out and buy “him” a bottle of Eternity. He never has to know it’s a present for _me_!

I love it so much, I’ve been known to spray a “secret” little bit on myself at the perfume counter. My old friend was very mad at me when I did this, and she told me, “Damnit, you smell so wonderful that people will think I’m attracted to you… I _am_, but it’s your smell, not _you_!”

Most of these scents, remember to tell him, just spray… wait… then walk through the mist that has already fallen. A little goes a very long way. Also, if you can, try to obtain samples (usually you just have to ask, I find many are more than willing to hand out samples) to bring home and just have him try - scents often smell different on different people, and often not the same as what you smell from the bottle.

No matter what you choose, good luck!

We’re going to Walmart today, which is right in the mall; maybe while we’re there, we’ll stop by BonTon and smell some bottles and ask for samples. I was under the impression that at perfume counters like that, you could try on, but they didn’t have actual portable little samples to use at home.

I _adore_ lagerfeld. As the first encounter with its sexygoodness was on my cousins very hot very goodlooking room mate. The pairing of him and Lagerfeld was pretty much an orgasm on the spot.

Mr. Ujest, annoyed by this statement from me, bought some Lagerfeld in order to get some. It didn’t work. Not the same chemistry.

\*\*Sex Panther \*\* by Odeon

It’s illegal in 9 countries, and it’s made with real bits of panther –so you know it’s good. It drives the women wild. A little dab, and he’ll have you doing the no-pants dance in no time. They’ve done studies on it… 60% of the time –it works every time.

Otherwise, I like **Paul Sebastian**.
Time to musk up.

Most do, at least… they did over on the east coast where I lived at the Sears perfume counters, and they gave me a good handful here on the west coast at the Bon. Some come in those tiny vials, some come on a strip of paper with a removable tab, some actually come in a little blister pack, and they give you one blister with the cologne in it. Some people will just say sorry, we don’t have any. What I do: ask\* everyone\*. It doesn’t hurt. The first few times I did it, I thought it would make me look like a deadbeat, but they were handed out willingly enough, and most of the salespeople like to chat a little, sometimes about the product, sometimes about the weather. Either way, they quickly learned that I was a returning customer, and became very eager to hand out samples when they saw me. I used to enter the Sears back home through the perfume counter entrance, and I would be _flocked_ to, salespeople holding their newest sample offerings (don’t worry, the spray-it-in-the-face method is out out out!). They did everything but roll out the red carpet for me. Incidentally, I only ever bought two bottles of perfume from them, both from Clinique. However, I actually own 14 bottles of designer perfume (every one of them Calvin Klein, or Tommy Hilfiger, or Chanel, or Givenchy, or Clinique, etc, etc - and a couple of those “celebrity” scents, as well, I have Glow and Still by J-Lo and that Celine Dion one) and countless other manly scents - if I had kept them, I would have just mailed them out to you to at least try, or pass it on (I had some Armani scent, two Tommy Hilfiger, one CK, and a Tommy “sport shower gel” or some such thing) - I don’t use them, and hubby only wears Calvin Klein - but I gave them away to an old male buddy of mine. That’s not including the body lotions, powders, soaps, bath/shower gel, tote bags, designer cases, a silver tray (from Calvin Klein), makeup pouches, etc… etc… etc.
Why am I telling you this? If you like perfumes (and this goes for anyone), get in “good” with one of your local perfume counter sections in a department store. I’ve found that once they know you, and know you have an interest in these things, suddenly, they start telling you about contests and (in my experience) after hours parties where you win giant prizes, not just limited to perfume. At one of these parties, my friend won a gigantic Clinique gift basket (I was so jealous!), someone won an entire dining set (table, chairs, plus china dinnerware and a set of silverware)… as for me, well. I won a trip to Panama and a gift basket with tote bags, luggage tags, a bottle of champagne, flute glasses filled with gourmet chocolate, a teddy bear, a beach ball, a golf shirt (?), and other little vacation implements.
I entered two contests out here on the west coast and won Clinique’s Simply… but I haven’t gotten as into it over here, so I don’t know how deep it may go. But, seriously, it could be worth your time if you like that kind of thing.

Writing all this, I’m rambling… but I realise how much I miss it all! Perhaps I’ll nose around the Bon next week.

**Anastasaeon** , wow! I had no idea about the after-hours parties and such! I think I’ll start chatting with some perfume counter people.

Thanks, all, for all the input. I think I feel a shopping trip coming up!
