Recommend some file backup methods please

Those drive trays work ok and are faster than USB, but are less flexible; they won’t work on other PCs without opening them up.

I’m sorry, I submitted before I was actually done explaining my plan: the removable tray setup would go in my backup server, which all my other PCs back up to. My objective is solely to have a secure, easy-to-transport backup system. Flexibility is pretty low on my priority list.
