I second this.
Add rank them c, a, b. (Wilson won the Pulitzer prize for “a”, btw)
You might want to see if your library has them. I usually check these types of books out first, then decide which one I will read. And if you have stores like Borders or Barnes/Noble in Brazil, they don’t mind if you spend a good of time thumbing thru books before buy them.
And just to complicate things a bit more, you should also check out Genes, Languages, and People per my earlier post. I’d recommend that one over any of the others anyday.
hehe… no such thing as an amazon here… well not with english speaking books. I usually order it in Amazon and just pay the horrendous shipping bills. I never read translations into portuguese if they are originally in english either…
I’ll check out this last recomendation in amazon…
Looks like it was given a slightly different title in the UK from the US. Can’t think why, except to emphasis Diamond’s warning that our evolutionary traits that have been our strengths for so llong can so easily cause our downfall.
Have we evolved that much since 1991? (Just kidding. But has evolutionary theory changed so significantly since then either?)
The basic premise has not changed at all. But new information supporting the theory, as well as new applications for the concept of natural selection are cropping up all the time. And then there’s always Darwin’s debunkers, who usually illicit another spate of book-writing whenever they come up with a new “proof” that Darwin was wrong.
There’s actually a decent article in either the current or the last issue of Natl. Geographic, titled “Was Darwin Wrong?”. I won’t give away what the answer is.
