Recommend some stories set in orphanages or boarding schools, please

THE CHORUS, takes place in a boarding school during WWII (French subtitles)

THE ITALIAN, takes place largely in a Russian Orphanage

THE CIDER HOUSE RULES, takes place mostly in a New England orphanage

Also, THE CATCHER IN THE RYE and DEAD POETS SOCIETY are well-known prep school stories.

Also, I write short stories that take place in a Texas orphanage during the 1950-60s. The collection will be published later this year.

Thursday’s Child by Noel Streatfeild is set (mostly) at an orphanage.

The Great Brain at the Academy by John Fitzgerald and The Strictest School in the World by Howard Whitehouse are set at boarding schools.

All are excellent children’s novels.
