I’m in the market for a new alarm clock. I’m tired of using my phone.

(For many years, I would wake up in the mornings to the sound of N.P.R.'s _All Things Considered_ but I stopped monitoring the news so closely after 2016, just for my mental health.)

So, does anyone have recommendations? I’m looking for one with a display designed not to contribute to insomnia (no blue, is that it?). I want to be able to set my alarm to AM/FM radio, but I wouldn’t mind being able to link it to Stitcher or Spotify or something like that.

I’d also like to be able to plug in my phone charger cord.

Any recommendations?

Do you have to have an actual AM/FM receiver or do you just want the ability to listen to radio stations? The newer echo dots have LED displays and can be set up for all sorts of wakeup routines. A lot of radio stations these days stream as well as broadcast, and you can connect the echo to your music services.

Eta: I don’t think you can plug your phone into them to charge though.

I don’t want anything “smart” that’s going to collect data about me.
