“Books” is a really broad category if you don’t specify genres that interest you. One that immediatly came to mind (and is worth mentioning because probably not a lot of people are familiar with it) is _The Sheriff of Yrnameer_ by Michael Rubens, and is the closest book I’ve read to channeling Douglas Adams. ---

Podcast: [Uhh Yeah Dude](http://uhhyeahdude.com/), America through the eyes of two American-Americans. Funniest duo I’ve ever heard. ETA: Seth Romatelli and Jonathan Larroquette. Jonathan is _that_ Larroquette’s son and has shared some funny family gossip. ---

Also worth a look are the multiple books of [Christopher Moore](https://www.chrismoore.com/) and [Tom Holt](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/www.tom-holt.com). ---
