Todd Rundgren has an impressive list of producing credits. Besides his solo efforts and Utopia albums he produced albums for the New York Dolls, Meatloaf, Grand Funk, Rick Derringer, XTC, Hall & Oates, Badfinger, The Tubes and others.
Glad I’m not the only one. When I got it, I thought there was something wrong with the CD. The sound level is all over the place, from barely audible to blaring, for no known reason.
Ehhh, I gotta disagree with Elvis (wouldn’t be the first time). It’s a great record, sounds awesome, and it has a lot of dynamics. It’s not produced like a pop record, and I doubt PJ Harvey wanted it any other way. She picked him based off his previous work; got the live, raw record she wanted; and still speaks highly of him.
Elvis didn’t like it, but they didn’t make it for him.
