I travel a lot for my job, and so I generally dream about travelling to different places all night. There are 3 places that I visit frequently in my dreams. One is a trendy, college-town type of place where I often go for dinner. Another is a busy middle-class district with lots of stores. The third is a rougher, working-class district. In these dreams I live in a relatively safe area but that borders this somewhat scarier neighborhood. There is a very complex system of freeways going between these areas, and I spend a lot of time traversing these freeways. None of these places exist in real life.
I have the same dream, except with cars. I’ll think, “Oh, yeah, I forgot about those 3 other cars I bought”. I usually left them parked somewhere, and when I go check on them, they’re completely stripped and vandalized.
I have composite cemetery that I visit from time to time. It has elements of several burial grounds that exist in the real world but neither the place itself nor the region in which it is located are real. There are several 19th century mausoleums that are intensely interesting to me and that I have tried to explore, but I always awaken before I get the door opened.
That would piss me off to no end.
Every night. And I have dozens, if not hundreds of places that I recognize. They are composites of what I’ve experienced in life and they go all the way back to when I was 4 or younger.
Some dreams are “problem solvers” that have something to do with the days events. Mostly I indulge in my hobbies. I’m a history buff and I’m always discovering something in my dreams. I also like to travel so that plays a part in things.
I’ve also noticed that I can get into dream “loops” if I take certain medicines.
