Recycling film scores?

Yeah, except I got the composer wrong. Jerry Goldsmith scored Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Alien; James Horner scored The Wrath of Khan and Aliens. :smack: I don’t have a cite for the reuse, but if you watch the “ignition of the Genesis Device” scene in STII and the “escaping from the reactor explosion” scene in Aliens, it is clear that they’ve used the exact same score for that scene. Some of the other music cues bear similarities, no doubt due to the short timeframe in which Horner had to score and conduct music for the film.

I know that IMDb used to have something about this. I don’t know why it’s not there anymore.

Some of the music for the original Alien movie was also used in Patriot Games. In the latter, if you listen when the satellite camera is showing the raid on the desert camp , you’ll recognize some of the “deep space” background music of the former.

Jerry Goldsmith did the score for The 'Burbs. The dramatic music for the car wreck was reused for the flying gremlin in Gremlins 2: The New Batch. Both films were directed by Joe Dante and scored by Goldsmith.

The superb score from Conan the Barbarian was re-used in the dreadful Conan the Destroyer, does that count?

I remember seeing a trailer for The Corpse Bride that used at least one song from The Nightmare Before Christmas, though I can’t remember which song it was.

Not exactly to do with the original question: If you watch the Olympics on NBC, you will hear the Brisco County Jr theme song.

Oh Yeah by Yello has been used in lots of things as has the score from an incredible factual concept film called a word that I cant remember but is an Indian word for Chaos and I wish now that i hadn’t mentioned it because its driving me mad.
