Dodge/Chrysler/Stellantis has recently revived the name Hornet for a compact hatchback/SUV. What other Model Names do you think they should bring back? Rambler? Coronet? Polara? ---

For those if us at a certain age, Hornet isn’t a Chrysler name. Just because they bought AMC shouldn’t mean they can reuse the name. And Maverick is a small car, not a restyled Ranger. ---

Ford UK recycled the Cortina name down several generations of cars, which had no parts in common by the end. ---

I believe Mitsubishi has done the same with the Eclipse, which used to be a sports coupe but is now an SUV. ---

Are car model names copyrighted or protected in any way? There’s a Romanian car company called Dacia (now part owned by Renault) that has the Duster which was a Chrysler model back in the 70’s. ---

I believe it is, to an extent. When GMC marketed an AWD turbo pickup, they wanted to call it the Cyclone. But the Mercury division of Ford already had the rights to the name of a muscle car from the 60s/70s. So GMC simply changed the spelling…the **S** yclone.
