I recently acquired an early edition of the feminist health guide “Our Bodies, Ourselves”, from the early 1970s. That book did indeed have instructions on how to wash and reuse condoms! I understand that older condoms were much thicker than modern ones, and actually designed for reuse. ewwwww ---

I recall reading about NYC children (in the days before sewage treatment) diving into the river to retrieve flushed condoms for rolling and resale. But I too am having trouble reconciling the volume and economics here. ---
