# Red wine spillage

I am really really hoping some one has a miracle cure for this!

I spilt red wine on my new grey wool carpet last night and need some advice on getting the stains out. I blotted it and got some of it out, but just really need some advice on getting it back to new!

I will give anyone who solves this for me a hug! 😛

The standard advice is to use white wine to dilute the stain.

Edit… if this was “last night” and the stain has dried, it might not work so well though…

There are products designed to remove red wine stains from fabric and carpet, such as [Shout](http://www.shoutitout.com/) and [Wine Away](http://www.evergreenlabs.com/). A good wine shop might carry them (or know where you could get them), or you can buy Shout where you buy laundry detergent, at least here in the US.

Salt and club soda is another good red wine stain remover, but best done while the stain is fresh.

I’ll second **Anne Neville** on Wine Away. That stuff works even when the stain has dried.
