Okay, I’ve managed to end up with a gift certificate for 20 euros from [Amazon.de](http://Amazon.de) – and I’m located in the U.S. It doesn’t seem sensible to have anything shipped here from Germany, but I was wondering if I could maybe use it for digital downloads somehow? Would I be able to use my US account somehow?

If not, hmmm, is there some way I can donate it to a charity or something?

I can tell you that you certainly can’t go in the opposite direction - I have credit at [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com) and have ordered stuff from [Amazon.de](http://Amazon.de) and have not been able to use my credit. [Amazon.de](http://Amazon.de) uses the same account - same username, same password; [Amazon.de](http://Amazon.de) “remembers” all my credit card information, address book, etc., but conveniently ignores my gift card balance. I’ve never bothered to ask [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com) customer service about it since it seems pretty clear, but if you wanted a definitive answer, you could just call [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com).

Their customer service # is 1-888-280-4331.

I’ve never been on hold for more than about 90 seconds.
