I for one, think those bratty-ass, stuck up, good for nothing kids should finally give that rabbit (What’s his name anyway?) some of that fu\*\*ing cereal, for crying out loud! What about you? ---

Seems to me back when I was a wee whipper snapper, they actually had a vote. 'course you had to buy a box to get a ballot, but IIRC when all was said and done they actually did give the rabbit some Trix. ---

I still have my “campaign” button that says “YES - Let the Rabbit eat Trix!” that they sent me in the mail from that old gimmick. It shows the Rabbit saying “Thanks, nice kid!” They also had buttons that said “NO,” with the Rabbit saying “Aw shucks.” (I’ll bet those “NO” buttons are a collector’s item by now – who in their right mind would have voted against the Silly Rabbit?) After the “votes” had been tallied, it was determined that the Rabbit had indeed gotten enough “YES” votes to win a box of Trix. The commercial showed the overjoyed Rabbit raving about the raspberry red, lemony yellow, and orangey orange he was about to partake of. With a big “Yippee!” he lept up to the ceiling, and then – in a move so cruel it still breaks my heart to remember it – the kids piped in once again with, “Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!”, and then they **took the box of Trix away from the Rabbit before he’d gotten to eat any!!** Where I come from, that’s called “robbery.” The Rabbit should have sued them, if not had them thrown in jail. NOTE: There **was** one old commercial – from before the Great Trix Vote – wherein the Rabbit disguised himself as a house painter and _got to eat some Trix_ before he was found out. So he’s not a _total_ Trix virgin. I have not eaten Trix since they added those vomit-inducing “watermelon” flavored pieces to the cereal. (Making the pieces shaped like fruit didn’t help either – I liked the idea of a Rabbit as a spokesman for cereal shaped like rabbit turds.) ---

Damn right the rabbit should get the Trix. I mean who are these kids to judge people by the length of their ears or the furriness of their hide? Blatant discrimination, if you ask me. ---

Actually, as I recall, the rabbit did indeed get to enjoy Trix after the kids voted for him. The ad showed the rabbit munching one spoonful, floating away on a cloud of fruity ecstasy, and when he finally came back to his senses, saw that his bowl was empty. The joy just went by so fast… I find it odd how the cereals come up with different conflict schemes for each character and cereal. Examples: Kids have cereal, mascot tries to get it from them: Trix Mascot has cereal, kids try to get it from him: Lucky Charms Mascot has cereal, tries not to eat it: Cocoa Puffs No one has cereal, but mascot leads others to it: Froot Loops I’m simplifying, of course…anyone want to add to the list? Or should I start another thread about this? ---

Kids have cereal, mascot trumpets the virtues of said cereal to kids’ parents: Cocoa Krispies (back when they had that “Cocoa Nut” miniature cartoon elephant as a mascot) Mascot has cereal, mascot’s arch-enemies try to take cereal from him, mascot eats cereal to gain super strength and defeat arch-enemies: Super Sugar/Golden Crisp Mascot **is** a kid, uses cereal to gain super strength and save sister from various crises: Cheerios Mascot is a Texas cowboy, likes everything the same color and size as cereal: Sugar Corn Pops Mascots are a group of kids who have built a hide-out to safeguard cereal: Honeycomb (until recently) Mascot is a mythical creature whose undetected presence makes kids suddenly long for cereal: Honeycomb (recently) ---
