Probably because they stand out (Cal Worthington comes to mind). The dealers that I have personally delt with in advertising campaigns have run the gamut from rednecks to proper business people to downright flakes. ---

I think the question is backwards. Why do so many rednecks sell used cars? Easier to answer too. ---

Wha shoot, them good ol boys is always messin roun with cars gotta do somethin with um after theys done messin.(Got one up on blocks my self not a ‘classic’ neither) Then there’re all them fancy sports coats and leasure suits in the closet. I’m born ‘n’ reared Texican I know my rednecks. ---

Here in Denver, the only redneck dealership that I know of is also the only one that makes the type of adds that bug the hell out of you and consequently the only ones you remember unless you’re shopping for a car. ---

The last time I saw the California Cal he was riding animals that were identified as “his dog spot.” That was a long time ago. I _did_ drop my teeth when he showed up three years ago in a fairly straight commercial in Alaska! 60 Minutes once tried to do a story on him. Couldn’t get past the front gate, which was about a mile from his house, IIRC.
