Huh. My washer and dryer are Kenmore branded, but I am pretty sure LG actually built them (Or maybe it was Samsung). They’re nearly as old as my fridge, and the washer has never had any problems. I had to replace the circuit board on the dryer many years ago, but I just ordered a replacement from Sears for around $100 and replaced it myself. Considering these were a Black Friday deal from Sears from 2008, they have greatly exceeded my expectations.
As an aside, I’m pretty sure that was how Goldstar (as LG was known at the time) first broke into the US market, by making things for Sears back in the 1970s.
Too late to edit, but my above post is wrong. I just looked up the model number and apparently my Kenmore washer was not made by LG, it was made by Kelvinator / Frigidaire. I didn’t even know they made washers, I thought they exclusively made fridges. But apparently they’ve been owned by Electrolux since 1986, so I suppose really it’s an Electrolux.
I though I had looked it up years ago and determined it was made by one of the Korean manufacturers, but apparently I misremembered, or my source was wrong back then.
