Refurbishing the Image of Walt Disney? (Harlan Ellison and Mary Poppins).

I want to say I saw it in the theaters too, but it might have been in 1984 or 5. No later than 1986. I really remember watching it on VHS, but I might be misrembering that. I was really young when I saw it, that’s all I know.

Cecil and a lot of others have explored Disney’s alleged anti-semitism, and haven’t found much. On the whole, he wasn’t a particularly political man.

His one and only political interest was fighting labor unions and communism, which to him were one and the same. To the extent that Jews are overrepresented among both union organizers and the far Left, his hostility toward those institutions may have seemed like antisemitism.

He certainly had many Jewish employees, and only a few of them have made accusations of antisemitism. Disney MIGHT have had antisemitic feelings, but the case is far from airtight. He wasn’t Henry Ford, certainly.
