# Regarding CERN; what's the point?

Note that it’s named after [Peter Higgs](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Higgs) and thus should not include an apostrophe.

at no point while coming up with the theory of relativity did Einstein think…  
“I bet they could use this to help people of the future find their way to Costco”  
but without that theory we dont have gps

it may be the only large scale commercial use Relativity has even been used for but thats beside the point. just about anything we learn gives us more knowledge to use to solve problems that we may not even know we have yet.
