What are the chances that they’ll reinstate the draft? What are the requirements? How old? How healthy? ---

i doubt there will be a draft, and if there is it won’t be for a while. there is a lot of info at the selective service website: > **[Selective Service System - It’s Your Country. Protect it.](https://www.sss.gov/)** > > When you register with the selective service, you’re helping ensure a secure future for your community and the United States of America. once you hit the age of 26 you can’t be drafted. men in ages 20-25 are drafted first, starting from 20 going up. more info on age [here](http://www.sss.gov/FSlottery.htm). as for how healthy you have to be, i don’t know if it is the same for the draft, but i am not healthy enough to join the armed forces in peace-time. possibility of arthritis immediately disqualified me. you still have to register no matter what your health situation is (more info [here](http://www.sss.gov/qa.htm#questaa)), but you can be rejected once you are called up i’m sure. another interesting piece of info is that people with sex changes have to stick by their sex endowed at birth, i.e.- a former male, now female, must register.
