“Conservative humor”? Right up there with “military intelligence” and “jumbo shrimp.”

Don’t sell Fox News short. This has the potential to duplicate the sensational success of left-wing talk radio.
On the other hand, maybe there’ll be some funny moments - if they can absorb the concept that real humor includes the ability to laugh at yourself, not just the other side. That’s one that Rush never learned.
The whole point of political humor is to mock those in power and the last time I checked, Gee Dubya and Deadeye Dick are going to be in power for another two years. And there are only so many Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean jokes they can tell before the well runs dry.
and of course, “christian science”.

Chalks this up to yet more people who simply don’t understand the Daily Show or why its so popular. The Daily Show isn’t based on skewering only the right, and its doesn’t have sacred cows on the left. In fact, neither side of the political spectrum is really their main focus. Their main focus is skewering THE NEWS. And, like seemingly most reporters, the reporters on Fox are too arrogantly devoted to what they do to get the joke. All they can see is the political segments, and they completely fail to see that the Daily Show is really skewering the way that they cover or fail to cover those stories in the absurd light they often stand in.
Didn’t Dennis Miller already do something like this? I may not agree but I think he’s smart and funny. I thiink if they try too hard to make it lean right it won’t be funny. What works for Stewart and TDS is he gets to call stupid bullshit what it is and show us the clips to make the point. The best comedy is in the truth.
If they remain moderate and make fun of the lefty extremists they could get away with it, but it will be dam hard to subtly defend Bush and homophobia without looking like a complete jerk. We’ll see. I’m thinking they’ll be to afraid of failure but they might prove me wrong.
I’d love to see someone intelligently defend conservative points. There are some I think are important to a balanced dialogue. Unfortunatly those haven’t been the ones getting all the press.

The sad thing is, if it’s like everyone else on Fox, they’ll never be able to poke fun at themselves, and THAT’S why it won’t work. They take themselves way too seriously, and that’s the whole problem-not so much their politcal attitude, but the way it’s expressed.
Looks to me like Michael Richards might have some career options after all!
