Released Guantanamo Detainees Planned Fizzled Plane Explosion

It is what it is, dude. To coin a phrase.

Please. Arresting someone and/or torturing them because someone else you tortured accused him, or because someone accused him of something for profit has nothing to do with “armed conflict”. And imprisonment without evidence and torture are wrong, “conflict” or not.

And are not “militarily necessary” either. Or even useful.

Yeeesh. Just go back and read what I have already posted. There is a theme that is “anti-military” that is associated with portions of the Left. Since I have already noted that the association is not universal and I have already pointed out several instances where it is true, what are you going on about?

At no point have I claimed that all folks on the Left are anti-military or that anyone on the Left hates military personnel. However, that there is a theme of opposition to the military (expenditures, employment, whatever), that occurs with a certain regularity on the Left really should not be a cause for concern. If I was stupid enough to say that everyone on the Left hates the military, (the way that some posters on the Left say that all people on the Right are racists), I could see this being a cause for alarm. I have not and it is not.

But there was a ticking dirty nuclear timebomb of mass destruction hurtling towards Detroit faster than the speed of light, and the Afghani goat herder knew the first 4 digits of the combination ! Why do you hate Detroit ?

(Nevermind, stupid question.)

A term whose meaning, as you intended it, you still refuse to share with the class. Was this a topic you actually wished to debate? :dubious:

But how are the rest of us to tell?

“Whatever”. Hmm. The term means “whatever”. Okay then. You can claim victory and go home if you want.

What the hell, man? Did you start watching Glenn Beck reruns over the holidays?

Not “everyone”, speaking of excluded middles and strawmen.

Once again, with feeling:

General, pervade, a lot, later supplemented by regularity, but not “everyone”. So there too, huh? Is that it?

You can do better than this.

Agreed on the torture. Agreed on simple accusation / money/ evidence part too.
However, detaining people who (with reason or not) want to kill you (the guy with the AK47 shooting at you) is reasonable and military necesity even if we accept that the war itself is immoral/illegal.

How do you know the people who were detained at Guantanimo wanted to kill Americans?
