I was a bit too much focussing on the belief of my late mother and of her relatives (Catholic), which was aimed at helping the OP gain some insight in the problem.

I like the Eastern Orthodox views a lot more since they make overall a lot more sense to me. Yet I didn’t study the doctrine in depth = not much more then came on the desk during history courses. My comparitive study Islam/Christianity was in its interpretation focussed on the Latin/Catholic, since it was part of the curriculum on a Catholic university. (every student, no matter which department or studyfield, had “some” courses related to the Catholic religion in the curriculum. In the department Arabic and Islamic studies that was of course extended to a comparitive study).
