I was thinking not long ago that a remake of _Barbarella_ might be interesting, if done right. And I just read in “Entertainment Weekly” that Robert Rodriguez is going to make one! Supposedly his version will be more similar to the original graphic novels. Sounds good.

How about **Planet of the Apes** , but based on the original French novel, _La planète des singes_, with the apes at our own level of technology. I’m jist not sure how to deal with the Jinn and Phillys reveal. Burton’s reimagining was horrible.

_Grindhouse_ got me thinking along these lines, I would pay serious money to see a Robert Rodriquez remake of _Frankenhooker_

Wanna date?

I’ve got to disagree with all of you who think that **Sunset Boulevard** should be remade. I put it in the pantheon of **Casablanca** and **To Kill a Mockingbird** as movies which should never be remade, because they cannot be improved upon.

As long as they’re doing adaptations of 1980s cartoons, why don’t they make a _good_ version of **He-Man and the Masters of the Universe**? One set on Eternia rather than Earth. And with Orko, dammit!

Soooo…are we talking Vin Deisel or The Rock here?

You say that now. What about when they ask Jim Carey or Will Farrel to play the lead?

Do you realize that **Frankenhooker** is itself essentially a remake of **The Brain/Head that Wouldn’t Die**?

Not only is the plot the same, but at the beginning you see the hero playing with a brain in a large beaker of water, and the brain has a huge eye in the front, just like in the poster for TB/HTWD:

> **[The Brain That Wouldn't Die Movie Poster](http://www.impawards.com/1962/brain_that_wouldnt_die.html)**
>
> Official theatrical movie poster for The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962). Directed by Joseph Green. Starring Jason Evers, Virginia Leith, Doris Brent, Audrey Devereal

Did you ever see the cartoon series Return to the Planet of the Apes? It was set on future Earth but the apes had 20th century technology. I thought it was rather an interesting alternate take on the concept.

I thought they’d just use CGI for Orko.

It’s funny that this thread should appear now, because earlier today I was thinking that if they had remade The Seven Year Itch in about 1974, it could have been a great movie, but if they remade it now it would probably stink.

On last year’s _America’s Got Talent_ was this 7 ft tall flaming queen named Vladimir Malchikhin who looked perfect for the part of the blind “angel” from _Barbarella_. Surprisingly, there’s not a single picture of him I can find on the web. Given that he’s the _most_ bizarre thing I’ve seen on TV (with or _without_ the use of mind altering substances), I’m at a loss as to why this might be.

I don’t think Hollywood is ready to keep the compulsory nudity from the novel intact.

Nor do this movie without turning into a plotless action flick. It could be a great movie, but Hollywood couldn’t do it well.

What is wrong with you people?! Hollywood already has a very serious remake problem, in case you haven’t noticed. And they’re notoriously bad at it. There’s no sense in encouraging them. Same with the TV show movies. Boycott all remakes!!!

That might be because you have the wrong name. Vladimir was on the show, but he’s a relatively normal looking acrobat who does handstands as seen in this clip: [http://www.talentedvideos.com/americas-got-talent/acrobat-vladimir-malachikhin/](http://www.talentedvideos.com/americas-got-talent/acrobat-vladimir-malachikhin/)

I just finished reading 'Mildred Pierce" and was telling a friend about it. She asked if it could be remade as a movie today since sex is more acceptable. I asked whether she meant a retro piece like “LA Story” or “Black Dahlia” or a contemporized version. She picked contempory so I retold the story to her as played in NYC with a black family. You know, it worked. (I was rather proud of my version, it starred Queen Latifah as Mildred, Bernie Mack as Burt Pierce and Will Smith as Monty Burgeron.)

You heard it here.

I dont think anyone could play Mildred except Joan Crawford. What about Queen Latifah playing the lead in mommy dearest. That would be interesting.

_Midnight Cowboy_ should be remade, with Owen Wilson as Joe and Ben Stiller as Ratso.

_Star Wars: A New Hope_, starring Owen Wilson as Luke Skywalker, Vince Vaughn as Han Solo, and Christopher Walken as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

_Gandhi_ starring that Indian guy from _Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle._ Fuck Ben Kingsley.
