Ooh! Ooh! Teacher, I know that one! The Mission-pak commercial played in the LA area around Christmas, urging locals to send a pack of citrus fruit to friends and relatives as a holiday present with a certain neener-neener aspect to it. Look at what we grow here in Southern California! Aren’t you jealous? Don’t you wish you lived here? No, I’m not inviting you to leave Kalamazoo and move here. No, seriously, stay where you are! Whew! That was a close one! ---

The cows and the sheep and the birds and the horses, were mooing and baaing, and whistling and neighing, having lunch in the sun. While Hugo and I were having none, in the back seat, we sat, getting thinner. The rumblings cried, “Give us Kentucky Fried, time for dinner!” So Dad stopped the car. And Hugo said “You go.” And I said “No, you go.” And soon he was back, with the pack, And then Dad hit the track, so we ate in the back, feeling better inside! _Premium Saltines reclosable pack (it’s moistureproof!) You open 'em up and you close 'em back. No crackers to break up, they’re single-ly stacked so they stay… crisp… to the very last cracker._ In the commercial, the cracker pack opened up and the individual crackers came out and paraded around. Thinking back, this may have been stop-motion photography. It was not a cartoon. Before the reclosable pack existed, a box of saltines contained crackers wrapped up but in large squares which could be broken into four pieces. This was one of my favorite commercials as a kid. From back in the early 1960s, I think. ---

I’m Chika Banana and I’ve come to say bananas have to ripen in a certain way. You can put them in a salad, you can put them in a pie. Anyway you want to eat them its impossible to beat them But bananas like the climate of the very, very tropical equator, so never put bananas in the refrigerator!/I] ---
