The Nestle’s dog puppet was named [Farfel](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farfel_the_Dog), and he usually ended the song by snapping his mouth shut with a clopping sound. This came about by accident: when auditioning for the commercial, Jimmy Nelson (the puppet operator) screwed up by letting his fingers slip off the mouth controls. Jan Smithers imitates this by clapping her hands together at the end of the jingle. ---

And now all lets sing the Bare Naked Ladies’s “Its All Been Done”, as I was going to add a few jingles for Great Bear, Automobile School of America, Pocono Gardens Lodge…which it turns out I had posted [a few year ago in this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=445947&page=3) :smack:. ETA: And someone else in that thread posted the Rickels Home Center jingle I was planning to (“Rickels helps you do it better - do it better with Rickels”), so I have been foiled once again by our past selves :mad: The McDonalds theme I remember from the 1970s was “You deserve a break today - So get up and get away - To McDonalds” - nothing as fancy as what RTFirefly posted. ---
