^ Wow, that really sucks! And itā€™s a looooong suck, too. Iā€™ve never heard that one and have no idea which brand that was. They deserve to be out of businessā€“weā€™re recalling 50+ year old jingles with utter (scary) clarity, here! No pretenders to the throneā€“off with their heads! ---

Burpo, the irony is that not only donā€™t I know the brand, I never saw the commercial! I was in another room while my parents (both smokers) were watching TV, and I heard it distinctly. What I was looking at while the jingle played was a drawing of the old Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, specifically a drawing of the Waner brothers. And I am a confirmed non-smoker. ---

I ran ā€œSpin filter cigaretteā€ through Google and found that the brand was Old Gold. I donā€™t think theyā€™re around any more. šŸ˜› ---

Snap Crackle Pop Rice Krispies The best part of this jingle, not shown in the lyrics, is that there is a _fourth_ iteration with all three verses/versions sung at once. The first two lines of each displace the operative word so that when all three are sung, the words ā€œsnapā€, ā€œcrackleā€, and ā€œpopā€ can be heard, in order; never in the jingle does one of the words coincide with the other two. The last line, where the operative words also occur, is stretched out so that each word could be sung separately. ---

\*\*Biggirlā€™s \*\*mention of the Doublemint reminded me of a spot that was set to Pete Seegerā€™s ā€œWeā€™ll All be A Doublingā€, which until this very moment I didnā€™t even know was a real song. This would have been 1970ish and I had and still have no idea what it was for. I remember it first shows one person standing in a field or something and then as the song goes on the people multiply. Does anyone else remember this, and more importantly what the heck it was for? Planned parenthood? Conservation? I have a vague memory of there maybe being statistics or something on the screen or maybe even a voiceover. ---
