Those guys introduced the 100mm cigarette (at least in my head they did), which was copied in pretty short order by just about everybody. The folks who got the bright idea to one-up them were Chesterfield. ---

Empire Carpets are now a national chain, but they used to be a local Chicago business, and their advertising jingle was 588 2 300, because back then, only people living in Chicago would call, and no area code was needed because the call wouldn’t have been long distance. The company expanded and kept their same iconic phone number with the toll free 800 added, and they squeezed the 800 in to their old jingle. ---
