There was a thread about it in [ATMB](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=666804&highlight=diamonds02). The rule is that you can just start one thread a week. You can post in any thread that you want…just like you did here. As I’ve said in the past, I enjoy your threads. I’ve never met someone with such an interesting perspective on life. The interns will have their music up so loud that I can hear it when I go to talk to them about something. Maybe now is a good time to start investing in the hearing aid industry because they are going to be totally deaf by the time they are 30. ---

I did it. I quit my good on paper but soul killing job (in this economy) and packed up my stuff and moved to a really beautiful place with very nice people and got another good on paper job before my savings ran out (in this economy) and…I hate it. Why did I sell out and get another normal gig? Why didn’t I man up and use that savings to open a little book store or something and have a real life? Now I live in a prettier, much nicer place, so there’s that, but all of the work problems that led to this big life change have just followed me here. As they do, right? And I don’t think I’ll ever get a second chance to do it right. ---

I think you’re getting somewhere - you’re just not quite there yet. ---

Ann Coulter is speaking at my school next month. I do not plan on attending, nor will I participate in any of the dumb attempts to get the school to un-invite her because it’s fruitless at this point. But…her? I find it hard to believe College Republicans couldn’t find someone less offensive. ---

Damn you facebook. One of my RL friends is pissing me off online, but is usually okay in real life. I don’t want to risk the friendship by putting her on “restricted”, but it looked like “acquaintances” was subtler, and she might not notice if I put her on that list. (yes, I know people shouldn’t be able to tell if they’re Restricted either, but I once got a furious text from a different pissed off former friend, who could obviously see the difference!) So a lot of my posts are now for “friends only, except acquaintances” and that’s fine, I can post mundane things about my life without worrying that she’s going to do a snarky, one-upping reply. But, I’ve got a custom friends list for local mums, and I would like her to still see when I post PSAs for upcoming events and local offers in it. It looks like although it says “custom list, except restricted” it actually means “custom list, except for restricted \*\*and \*\*acquaintances” as she didn’t seem to see yesterdays update. TLDR - I’m a bitchy friend and want to hide only \*\*some \*\*shit from a so-called friend on facebook! ---

What in the blue hairy fuck? Apparently my life will stop at nothing to prevent me from getting work done. Yesterday I broke the office printer and this morning I blew a fuse. Resetting it didn’t work and my boss is out sick. The only functioning computers are down. ---

I have kittens. Cute, cuddly, healthy-looking, playful kittens. I also have the mama. What I don’t have is a good phone number for the mama’s owner. I stopped at a grocery store on the way home tonight and someone was giving away kittens. She had the mama as well, so I offered to take them all, put the kittens up for adoption and have the mama fixed and returned to her. The lady seemed to think that was great, took my card and wrote her phone number down for me while I was putting the kittehs into my carrier. (Of course I have a carrier in my trunk, doesn’t everyone?) When I got my new guests settled in, mama used the litterbox and her output was disturbing. I tried to call the lady to ask what mama had been eating and it wasn’t a working number. The lady has my contact info, but I don’t expect to hear from her. I shouldn’t be this cynical, but I’ve come to realize that when it comes to irresponsible pet owners, they will lie when the truth will do. Its better this way…mama will get a home with someone who wants her, and what a sweet lil girl she is too. They will all go to the vet on Tuesday. The lady said the kittens were 8 weeks old, but I think they are younger than that. Our awesome vet will make the decision if they are all ready to be fixed now or if they should wait a week or 2. I never know if I should put the rescue stuff in the mini rant threads or the workplace griping thread because rescue really is my second job, even if I don’t get paid for it. I typed this here, so I’ll leave it here. If you guys want to make a choice for me, I will happily abide by your wishes. tl/dr: I tried to do a favor for a stranger and she lied to me. I’m not shocked that it happened, but I am grumbly. ---
