Those ramps can be repurposed for going through a front door)? Actually, I just checked on one thing: we have a pair of heavy aluminum ramps that Tony uses to put the ATV on the back of the truck. Those can easily be used as a wheelchair ramp. I don’t think Nell can walk into the house - when I saw her Saturday, she was telling me that she can’t get knee replacement surgery due to her weight, and her completely sedentary lifestyle (along with a host of other issues) doesn’t really encourage weight loss. I can’t really begin to estimate her weight… In high school, at about 5’10" or 11", she was above 300 pounds, maybe 350. My best guess now is 500-600 pounds. (Past a certain point, how do I even begin to estimate? Looking at pictures from the weekend - 25th class reunion, woohoo and all that - her leg at the knee is about the circumference of my waist. She’s Discovery Health documentary big. ☹ ) I’ll find out for sure whether her chair will fit through the front door - I think that isn’t a question that would be terribly embarrassing - and I can make everything else work… except for a restroom. I really don’t think that her chair will fit through a standard interior door. Oh, and Happy Birthday, bouv! WTF, Adobe? You install the newest version of Flashplayer on my computer, and now I can’t view any Flash content in Firefox. The bloody player (but luckily not Firefox) keeps crashing. It works in Chrome, but Chrome is my backup browser, not the one I use regularly. Stupid Adobe. Stupid Flashplayer. ---

Goddamit FB friend - just because you are feeling guilt for stringing unemployment benefits out as far as you could before getting a job doesn’t mean you can come off all high and mighty about some woman you don’t even know whining about being judged for being on food stamps. ---

So, you’re ranting that she isn’t being judgmental _enough_? Or is it because she’s scolding people for being what you think of as the exact right amount of judgmental? ---

She has apparently decided that since she could somehow justify to herself that not looking for work for 2+ years was OK, anyone else getting “assistance” must really need it and no one cheats. ---

Looked at an apartment last week- the first and only ones in town that meets my needs. The “property manager” said to return my application and then with a 200-300 deposit, he’d hold the place 30 days til I could get all my money together for all the moving expenses. He said he’d call me later that day or the next to get everything handled. I finally called today, and a lady informs me, “Oh yeah, well that guy has been fired and that’s not really how we do things here. Your application has been approved, but someone else is also looking at the apartment. If you want the place, we need the deposit and first month’s rent by today or tomorrow” Now, I am by no means a spendthrift. But I don’t have $1300.00 just floating around. Dammit! I told her I could get the money in a week, but not a day. She said there might another unit available for me, even then. Now I’m concerned about the management style of the place, but it’s really my only feasible option. Plus I already paid the $35 application fee. But I was counting on that 30 days, and now I have to somehow learn to shit fifty dollar bills, not to mention giving my family close to zero notice about moving out. Very inconvenient!! ---

So you’re ranting because she’s _judging_ people for being _discerning_. Right? I can get behind that. _Judging_ people is kind of a hazardous practice. It’s real easy to make an unattractive habit out of it. ---
