Okay. Now we have to have another get together in Stillwater. Chicken Fried Steak at Shortcakes in Stillwater is the best! It’s in this tiny diner right next door to one of the Sonics here and these steaks are _huge_! I can’t eat the whole thing in one sitting. Ever. ---

Why am I reminded of the SCTV sketch parodying “The Grapes of Wrath?” Grandpa says something like “When we get to California I’m gonna get me a chicken fried steak and wear it for a hat.” I’ve got to admit, CFS is on the short list of foods I miss since going vegetarian more than ten years ago. Eischens chicken is on the list also. Never fear, **Sewalk** , I still agree that Eischens would be a great place to meet - my mouth will be watering as Dopers savor the best chicken on the planet. ---

Actually, Eischen’s is in Okarche, between OKC and Kingfisher. When I was in high school, we lived in Surrey Hills (NW122nd & Mustang Rd) so it wasn’t a very long drive. I haven’t eaten out there since Dad moved back to McLoud in 1992. **Ginkgo** [sub]spelled it right that time[/sub], I’m wondering just where in the hell the SCTV writers thought someone would get CFS in California. I shudder at the thought. **Arden** , Ann’s, at NW 39th and Tulsa Ave also has huge CFS, covered, and I mean really covered, in white gravy. Finally, **stofsky** , you are hereby banished from all Oklahoma Tex-Mex restaurants for life for using “El Chico” with “best” and “good” in the same sentence without a qualifying strong negative modifier. Oh, there’s a new Chelino’s (well, as of about two years ago, anyway) at Reno and Sooner. It’s better than the Bricktown location.
