Makes me cry. My father and Uncles served in WW II and the Korean War. When my dad was buried the local VFW played Taps at his graveside and handed me a flag. I am a non war vet from who spent a year in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba back in the 1980s when no one knew where it was. ---

Wreath laying done. Youth choir now singing God Save the King (bilingual version). Gov Gen and PM leaving; will be followed by the March Off of the vets and serving members. Commentators say this is one of the biggest turn-outs of populace in recent years. GovGen and Silver Cross Mother on the reviewing stand as the veterans march off. ---

When I see a statement about the veterans marching past I think of a short story, a fantasy, by Robert Heinlein.titled _The Man Who Traveled in Elephants._ Johnny, a retired and widowed salesman, has traveled to a special and spectacular fair. It aims to have invited any local parades and celebrations to come show off their stuff. The Mummers from Philadelphia, Mardi Gras celebrants, you name it. And of course there are marching veterans. As the story tells, some had to ride because _“Merciful Heaven forgive us, they could not walk”_ ---
